Suprised? not really… I’m not going to wail on about how to fix the problem, I would just suggest that the lads sack the nervousness, have a bit of fun and attack more.

The entire competition has been particulalry unimpressive for me this year. One of my friends in upstate New York wrote to me a few days ago, ‘I’m the coach of my daughters soccer team now, so I’ve been watching a lot of the World Cup games, I’m trying to figure out exactly how the off side rule works and why these guys spend so much time rolling around on the floor when they’ve hardly been tackled.’… Yeah, me too mate.

I think it makes the whole competition look quite ridiculous to be honest. At this level, how can the blowhards at FIFA still not adopt an instant replay to assist the ref to make a decision when so much is riding on it.
An instant reply that reveals the amount of contact that actually takes place, would also encourage some of these guys to stop trying to take advantage of the blind side and just play the godamn game.
